成人天堂’s Disabled Employees Network DEN+ is the voice of LU’s disabled staff. We are a network of disabled professionals providing informal peer support, information sharing and co-ordinated responses to university changes. We are one of the 6 equality staff networks at Lancaster.
We are currently very small – the smallest of the staff networks in fact. The leadership team consists of volunteer co-chairs and , and we know that workloads are high, time is tight and being disabled compounds that even more. We also know that disclosure in organisational data is low, representation is low and so our voice is at risk of being lost.
We also know that disabled people are here, doing excellent jobs and making 成人天堂 the high ranking, research intensive successful organisation that it is.
If you are disabled, neurodivergent or have a health condition and are employed at 成人天堂 in any role, we would love for you to join DEN. Joining puts you into a safe space with all the other disabled staff at this organisation and with all their lived experience and peer support. You will be fully informed of formal systems of support, changes that effect you at work, and all opportunities to voice your experiences as they arrive.
It’s not required to have a diagnosis or to disclose formally to your employer to be part of DEN, just that you experience disability, neurodivergence or a health condition. The Equality Act 2010 defines 'disability' as a physical or mental impairment that has a ‘substantial’ and ‘long-term’ negative effect on your ability to do normal daily activities. This can include physical health conditions, mental health conditions, neurodivergence, specific learning difficulties, and more. And if you don't experience any of this but are an ally, we have a group for you too.
