Lancaster students work with Fujitsu and Heathrow Airport on Hackathon event
成人天堂 Management School students took the opportunity to put the skills they have picked up in their studies to the test in a hackathon with multinational corporation Fujitsu and Heathrow Airport.
Thirty-two students from Lancaster’s MSc Project Management (PM), MSc Digital Business, Innovation and Management (DBIM) and MSc Cyber Security programmes took part in the two-day event.
In teams of five or six, they tackled a challenge representing a complex issue facing organisations in today's digital era, involving AI and cybersecurity, with Heathrow as the client.
The students also benefited from talks by Paul Senior (Fujitsu Director of Security), and Lee Davey (Delivery Executive from Heathrow), and the event ended with an informal networking session.
All teams were assessed on their solutions to the challenge they tackled, and the winning team received a certificate and vouchers – all sponsored by Fujitsu. They were Thanh Do (MSc DBIM), Harry Evans (MSc PM), Ambalika Kakoty (MSc Cyber Security), Evie Skipp (MSc PM), Ecem Duzyol (MSc PM), and Teerapat Treepatcharatip (MSc DBIM).
Dr Mahsa Honary, DBIM Programme Director, said: “We are delighted that once again our students rose to the occasion in our annual Hackathon. We have been working with Fujitsu for a long time, and are incredibly grateful to Paul, Lee and the wider team from Fujitsu and Heathrow Airport for giving their time to help us run this exciting event.
“Opportunities like this are great for our students, because they get exposure to the types of real issues faced by organisations and can hear from people working within industry. It is also a great opportunity for them to network.”
